The New Hotbed: How South Carolina EYBL Teams Are Changing the National Conversation

South Carolina used to be the place college scouts drove through on their way to Georgia or North Carolina. Not anymore. From Columbia to Charleston, the state’s EYBL programs are flipping the script, producing elite talent that is showing up on national leaderboards and highlight reels. The grassroots scene here has become a full-on movement – a mix of hard work, culture, and community pride that is starting to reshape how the rest of the country views the Palmetto State.

It starts with the foundation. Programs like Twelve Time have built real systems, not just teams. They are developing players who walk into college already understanding pace, pressure, and media. Add in NIL education, branding, and mentorship from local pros, and you have a generation of athletes who know how to move on and off the court. The days of being overlooked are done.

What’s happening here feels bigger than basketball. It’s about representation, opportunity, and proving that small-market kids can dominate the biggest stage. South Carolina hoopers are making national noise and this time, everybody’s listening.
